The cases were based on the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Nature and on the End Ecocide Amendments proposed to the International Criminal Court... Almost one year ago, on 19 May 2015, Senate gave final approval to Environmental Protection and New Eco-Crime in Italy. The "Provisions relating to crimes against the environment" set out a new separate chapter in the Penal Code, introducing crimes against the environment as environmental pollution, environmental disaster, impeding controls and failure to decontaminate. It provides for up to fifteen years imprisonment for polluters. This is a huge victory after nearly twenty years of battle. To follow this example in other countries around the world, create a local End Ecocide group.
